French Bread Made Easy

From novice to expert, any baker can make this easy French bread recipe using Niobrara Grain and Milling organic bread flour. Enjoy this tasty loaf with your favorite pasta dish or cup of soup.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups warm water, 110-115 degrees F
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast 
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons salt 
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 5 ½ – 6 cups (790 – 852 g) Niobrara Grain and Milling Bread Flour

Directions

  1. Combine yeast, warm water, and sugar. Let sit until foamy (about 3 minutes) in stand mixer bowl.
  2. Add oil and salt to bowl with 2 cups of flour. Using the dough hook, mix on low speed. Add in remaining flour gradually until the dough starts to pull away from the sides.
  3. Knead/ mix dough on low for 3 minutes. The dough will be soft and smooth.
  4. Let rise until doubled, about an hour
  5. Separate dough in half. Roll dough out into an 8x12 rectangle. Fold the long edge in on both sides and tuck in the ends. 
  6. Place dough seam sides down on parchment lined apn. Make 3-4 slits with a dough lame on the top (you can sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds).
  7. Cover with parchment paper or towel. Let rise until doubled, about an hour.
  8. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  9. Bake 25-30 minutes until bread is golden brown.
