1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter- frozen
¾ cup whole milk
Instructions
- Using a box grater, grate frozen butter.
- Preheat oven to 425F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add frozen butter to flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter to cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add milk. Stir until combined; do not overwork the dough.
- Transfer dough to a floured counter and gently work the dough together.
- Fold the dough over itself and gently flatten the layers together. Rotate the dough and fold in half again, repeating 5-6 more times, creating layers.
- Flatten the dough to 1” thick. Using a dusted biscuit cutter or glass, press into the dough and drop the biscuits on the baking sheet less than ½” apart.
- Repeat until you have gotten as many as possible.
- Bake in preheated oven for 12 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
